Sidhamshi School was incorporated in the year 2014, with a vision to provide an opportunity for children of the neighbourhood villages to learn with love, care and safety.
Our vision is to provide quality education to children in an environment where they are happy, curious and always fearless to ask questions.
Our objective is to provide world class progressive learning experiences and amenities to children of the local community, in a 'home away from home' environment. To work together with the local children and their families to create a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Teaching- Learning Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in the progressive ideas of Friedrich Frobel, who is widely acclaimed as the father of kindergarten. A renowned educator, he shaped the concept of kindergarten, around 175 years ago. His ground breaking ideas and his holistic approach to early learning are inspiring us even today: child-centred, play- and inquiry based, active learning, in unity with nature.
‘I wanted to educate people to be free, to think, to take action for themselves’- These ideas of Friedrich Frobel continue to inspire us. It is this basic idea thought that our teaching practice & approach promotes. By creating a stimulating environment for the children, the children's potential for learning and development is stimulated and supported. Therefore, we curate hands-on learning activities to support our children to learn through experiences which are connected to their homes and to their community. We focus on children's individual learning requirements and provide customised learning to children as per their unique needs.
The play of children is not recreation alone; it means earnest work too. Play has a central role in our pedagogy. When children play, it is not just for fun. Rather, it is an opportunity for being active and of collaborating with others, of communicating and problem solving. This enables children to develop into independent, self-confident, creative and thinking adults.
Why Sidhamshi School caters to children from Pre-Nursery to Grade 5.
Multidisciplinary research from neurobiology, economics and child development has provided credible evidence that early childhood is a crucial stage in a child’s development. Brain research has shown that 90% of the brain’s development, happens from the ages of 0-6 years. Children’s early experiences influence brain development, by affecting the formation of the synapses or neural pathways of the brain. Early experiences thus, have far-reaching effects on the overall development of the brain and on behaviour. It is our endeavour at Sidhamshi to provide children with enriching experiences in their early years and to give them a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Curriculum
Our curriculum comprises of best practices and materials from around the world. Some highlights of our curriculum are-
Jolly Phonics- Jolly Phonics is a world- renowned English program which teaches children how to read and write using knowledge of phonics. Phonics method is the teaching of the sounds that letters make and that expedites reading and writing skills.
Physical Development- Physical development includes both growth and the ability to use muscles and body parts for particular skills. A number of fine and gross motor activities are included in our curriculum. In addition children play games such as basketball, badmintion, football etc.
Yoga-Yoga brings together mind, body and breath to produce perfect balance within us and can be the perfect addition to the school curriculum as it can help children keep their minds calm and grow holistically.
Music and Dance- Children learn new things like sounds, words and patterns through music. They can explore and control their body movements. They also express their feeling and emotions. Our music and dance programs are integrated in the children’s daily timetable.
Individualized Learning - Remedial programs are designed to close the gap between what students know and what they’re expected to know. In our school many children faced learning challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many students needed extra support to catch up to their peers. Our teachers are trained to be able to address individual learning requirements and implement remedial programs as and when the need arises.
Real World Experiences – We want our students to be able to apply their learning to their daily life. In 2019, Sidhamshi School organized a grand ‘Diwali mela’, with the intention of extending students’ learning to the real world. Students, parents, their friends and relatives were invited. There were colorful stalls, decorations and enthusiastic visitors who participated whole-heartedly in this event. Children were given various responsibilities and used their language and math skills to run the event and make it a success.
Similarly, students are taken on excursions such as a visits to the zoo or a puppet show, where they can learn new skills and gain a new perspective.
